Message Issues

Just FYI people: dA is currently not letting me load my Message Center or Notifications page. It hasn't since Friday (the 18th). As of this writing, I have 2,939 watch message, 8 deviations, 40 group messages, 1 notice, and 1 Help Center ticket in.  Last I checked, my ticket was still awaiting assignment to a rep.

Obviously, if I can't see or access my messages, I can't answer them either. So if anybody's messaged me or anything, that's why I haven't responded. Given the number of messages I already have, and the assumption it will at least be another day or two, it's safe to assume it will probably be at least a few days--probably more--before I actually see and can respond to any messages. Unless they get deleted, though, I will answer eventually.

I honestly don't get enough comments that I expect this to be a big issue, but just in case, I thought I'd alert people.

After some consideration, I've decided to largely stop taking request for artwork.

There are a few reasons for this, but the main one is training myself. When I initially started doing requests, I was reasonably happy with my work. Moreover, I had seen people charging various forms of currency for significantly worse work. The latter is still true, but the former is definitely not. I've gotten to the point where I'm pleased with little to nothing about a lot of my last few pieces. So, I'm going to go ahead and focus on improving my skills, finding and learning from more tutorials, studying, and so forth.

Suggestions and feedback are welcome, of course. Wish me luck!

So, my student subsctription to Photoshop CC is expiring next month, so I'm looking into buying an older hard copy of Photoshop. What I'm not clear on is: what is the difference between Elements and CC/CS, and can I use Elements for the digital painting I do? Every description I've found regarding Elements focuses entirely on the photography side; I can't find anything about other abilities it may have.

Does anybody know enough to help me out?

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?

6 years, according to my profile. I still feel like a newb, though...No, I disagree!

  2. What does your username mean?

Mostly, it means I'm a raging geek. Tymora is a goddess from the Dungeons and Dragons world of Faerun, otherwise known as the Forgotten Realms setting. She's the goddess of good luck and a frequent patron of adventurers.

11 is the date I was born.

  3. Describe yourself in three words.

Well, there's geeky. And intelligent. Um...creative? I hope?

  4. Are you left or right handed?

    Lefty.

  5. What was your first deviation?

    Garnet by tymora11

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create?

Does "striking" count as a type? Otherwise, it's a toss-up between 3d and digital painting...Shrug

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

    Matte painting or 3d modeling.

  8. What was your first favourite?
    Winter by Christmas-chan

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

These days, it mostly seems to be digital paintings.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

Probably Mavrosh, with lithriel and Aeirmid close seconds.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

    Mavrosh or Aeirmid.

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

When I originally joined dA, it was because I liked looking at the art and wanted to collect it, plus I couldn't see most pieces in detail (or if they contained nudity) without a membership. As I spent more time around the site, I began to realize that I might actually be able to create some on my own, which I've always wanted to do.

I remain uncertain as to how successful this was, but I've enjoyed the journey nonetheless.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?

Photoshop, Daz Studio 4, and a Wacom Bamboo

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

    Wherever my computer is?

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?

    Llamas!

Or else my first (and thus far only) feature.
